A Little Bit About Me

American English tutor

I am an American, a native English speaker, and I studied linguistics (along with international relations) at the University of California at Davis. I have also taught English as a second language at a university. In addition to being an English tutor (an ESL tutor), I’m also a professional translator, translating texts from German and Russian into English. If you’re curious, you’re welcome to see my website for translating.

I studied German at the University of California at Davis, and for a year at Georg-August University in Göttingen, as well as in high school. I learned Russian when I lived and worked in the Kyrgyz Republic for four years. In addition to being fluent in Russian and German, I have studied several other languages including Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Malay. I love languages.

Because I have learned languages and taught English, I can better understand what you need and how to help you. My knowledge of phonetics, morphology, syntax, and other aspects of language also give me insight to help me explain English better. I enjoy teaching, and I enjoy giving help that is truly useful to you. It makes me happy when I see you making progress with your English. With my knowledge and experience, I can show you how to speak English easily, step by step.

Other Interests

I also enjoy roaming the world, and have lived in over a dozen countries. Here are a few pictures from my travels.
